Personal Reflection
Creating the Dirty Delicious booth taught me that food doesn’t need to be perfect to be meaningful. We live in a world that throws away so much, yet just a little creativity and care can transform “imperfect” ingredients into something joyful, nourishing, and full of impact. At first, I was nervous. Could we really pull this off? Would people care about rescued food?
Issue I was having trouble with was setting an ideal price for my items since the price range of ingredients weren't clearly mentioned online, the majority of the ingredients would appear to be quite pricey online so I preferred to personally visit a local supermarket in order to have the minimum cost price level to work out a price range to have the profit margin earned for bigger donation.
Designing the product mind maps also revealed to me the need to think out every detail. This exercise taught me how to combine creativity with purpose and how even tiny ideas can have a great effect. And I’m hoping that our little booth, with its quirky name and rescued meals, stood for something bigger hope, sustainability, and second chances.
